Hello! My name is Kristyan Cortez, and I helped found Sigma Chapter of ZETA SIGMA CHI Multicultural Sorority Inc. at UC Davis my freshman year of college. Before coming to Davis, I was heavily involved in all sorts of activities - I held executive board positions in four different clubs, ran cross country & track, volunteered at Loma Linda University Hospital, and was an AP student - but when I arrived at UCD, I felt like a little fish in a big pond and longed to find a place where I had a sense of community. I was the type of girl that swore she would never join a sorority because I had all sorts of misconceptions and stereotypes in my head, but then ZETA SIGMA CHI came into my life and changed all of that. I was blessed with the opportunity of leaving a legacy behind at UCD and creating a space where women could leave behind their stereotypes, fears, and reservations to find a place where they can be themselves unapologetically and find true sisterhood. Don't limit yourself - be open to new experiences because you never know just how much they help you grow.
